The Wiltern used to be...
The Warner Bros. Western Theater
The building opened in 1933 and closed after one year of operation. Leased by Warner Bros. it was originally known as the Warner Bros. Western Theater. It closed down unitl the mid 1930s because of the Great Depression. When it was reopened it was called the Wiltern, as the new owners combined the street names of Wilshire and Western together. The theater was finally reopened in 1985 after impressive restoration efforts. Today, many musical bands perform here throughout the year. Several organizations also use the office space above the theater. One such non-profit office in the building includes the Bus Riders Union.
