Tess Inman
Avid historian, photographer and collector- Tess Inman is the woman behind most of the historical photographs we were able to use for this project. She is the owner of all of the postcards, menus and maps used in our research. Her dedication to the project has resulted in hours of scanning and sending of documents and photographs for our class to use. By trade she is a Costumer and member of the IATSE Costumers Local 705. She has worked on several Hollywood films and T.V. Shows:

Tom Zimmerman
Tom Zimmerman is a native of Los Angeles and shares a birthday with the city. His prose has been published in Southern California Quarterly, California History, and Journal of the West. His photography has been published in the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Times Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, Americana, Los Angeles Architect, Flip Side, Exposure, Libido, Modernism, Jeffrey Herr’s Landmark L.A., Elizabeth McMillian’s Deco and Streamline Architecture in L.A., Gloria Koenig’s Iconic L.A. and many other magazines, books, and newspapers. Zimmerman’s photos have been exhibited across the country, and are in the permanent collections of the United States Library of Congress, National Trust for Historic Preservation, California State Library, Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Los Angeles Library, Los Angeles Conservancy, Motion Picture and Television Photo Archive and the Fortress of Peter and Paul in St. Petersburg, Russia, among others. He has taken the historic recordation photos of the Ambassador Hotel, Olympic Swim Stadium, Tom Gilmore’s Old Bank District in downtown Los Angeles, Santa Fe Repair Yards in San Bernardino, State Armory in Santa Barbara, Miramar Hotel in Montecito, the last orange packing plant (Irvine Growers) in Orange County and hundreds of others. Three books of his photographs have been published: A Day in the Season of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Wednesday at the Pier, and most recently, Downtown in Detail – consisting of photographs of the interior and exterior details of buildings in the historic core of Los Angeles. A catalog of his series, “Neon Noir,” was published by the Museum of Neon Art where it was first exhibited. He has also written two historical books. Light and Illusion is about Hollywood photographer Ray Jones, and Paradise Promoted: The Selling of Los Angeles 1870-1930, about the booster campaign that built Los Angeles.
